Guest House

Product Designer

As a product designer, you'll be responsible for translating a user experience into a visual UI. The best candidates possess the skills and insights to build intuitive solutions that solve for common use cases. You'll contribute to some of the most critical parts of the product process: understanding user needs through research, creating interactive prototypes, end-user testing, designing high-fidelity interfaces, and working with our engineering team to design and build projects to meet the goals within scope.

As one of the early designers at Guest House, you will:

  • Own every aspect of a product's design, from solving the core user challenge to shipping a well-tested and pixel-perfect UI
  • Identify, define and deeply familiarize yourself with user goals prior to starting the design process
  • Create and test rough prototypes early in the design process to create confidence in a solution
  • Design high-fidelity UI and UX specs that clearly communicate requirements to your team's engineers
  • Work closely with the engineering team to build components that seamlessly fit into a larger component library and style guide
  • Help make high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product team
  • Contribute your design thinking skills to other areas of the platform (education, marketing, customer success, etc.)

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Experience designing and shipping applications
  • Proven ability to empathize with and build solutions for users
  • Ability to organize and communicate your thoughts and motivations
  • A keen eye for visual UI details
  • Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision
  • The ability to efficiently run with a project with strong self-motivation and without close supervision

About Guest House

At Guest House, we make homes feel human. From our origins as a furniture store in our own house in Denver, CO to a rapidly growing technology platform disrupting a $290 billion dollar furnishings market, we’re seizing the opportunity to turn millions of homes into retail destinations. Today, we’re available in Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs and San Diego.

We see every real estate listing as an opportunity to create a beautifully-designed, shoppable space that immediately makes the buyer feel at home. And the market is huge, with over 5.5M homes sold each year and over a quarter are staged.

We’re creating the future of furnishing by staging homes anyone can shop (@guesthouseshop) and we’re building the first-ever tech platform for staging that allows us to scale our model faster and more efficiently than anyone in the market. And that’s where this role comes in.
