About the Job

2Book develops a Saas application that solves real problems for individuals and businesses in the wellness industry (www.MassageBook.com). Our team is a little over 20 strong, and business growth is strong.

We have an opening for an experienced UX/UI designer.

You must enjoy solving problems with other bright, passionate people in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the challenge of learning as you do.

If you’ve had the experience of being part of an efficient and happy product and engineering team working on a Saas product, and are motivated by seeing your ideas and influence realized quickly, this job may be an excellent fit for you.

Your primary job responsibility will include providing clear, UX friendly and attractive designs. You will work with both the product and engineering teams through the development cycle to ensure that the finished product we release is simple to use and aesthetically pleasing.

Design work will include improving existing functionality as well as creating designs for new features. Mock ups, both static and clickable prototypes may be required.

You'll be working directly with the product and engineering teams to define and optimize designs.

If you enjoy acting as the hub of influence, are a source of positive energy for your team, and are detail oriented and enjoy seeing the fruits of your labor live and breathe, you'll be very happy in this role.

Personal strengths, experiences, and characteristics vital to success include:

  • Experience or a strong intuitive sense for UX design principles
  • Experience working within a software development team
  • Experience working on a software application (Preferably a Saas product)
  • Experience with both desktop and mobile applications
  • Ability to grasp business logic quickly and can think through ways to solve problems in a multi-faceted manner. (i.e. - This change will impact three other things that we haven't considered yet)
  • Enjoy being the responsibility of being in a lead design position
  • Creative yet practical
  • Pride in the designs they create
  • A natural tendency towards open and minimalist design
  • The infectious and consistent attitude and work ethic of a winner

  • Proven track record of finding good solutions for UX challenges within the context of an application or somewhat complex workflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and flexibility
  • Confidence coupled with an openness and desire to solicit feedback

  • Minimum 2 years working as a team member in software application projects
  • Understanding of UX design principles
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping software like Sketch, Photoshop, Axure

  • An open, light-filled office space in a contemporary office space
  • Benefits of working in the Charleston / Mt. Pleasant area
  • Medical benefits
  • The ability to work with a close-knit group of roughly 20 people who care deeply about what they're doing in an energetic, collaborative atmosphere.

Interviewing is time-consuming and something most people don’t enjoy all that much, so let’s cut to the chase and make sure we don’t waste each other’s time.

Here’s the deal:

We’re looking for someone who’s going to be a strong, positive influence on not just our design and development efforts, but on our young-ish company as well.

This is a key hire for us.

We have a really bright future, and we’re looking for a truly remarkable individual to join us for the exciting road that lies ahead.

If you think of yourself as “pretty good”, don’t bother applying.

This is not a cushy job where you can succeed by working 20 hours a week and get by. You'll work hard, but not so hard that you don't enjoy yourself or feel like the pace is unsustainable or not enjoyable.

There's a sweet spot...

We want someone who will challenge the status quo and will be unhappy unless we're making steady progress.

So make a quick gut check, and if you feel like you have what it takes to be great in this role, we’d really love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the product team to define requirements around design work
  • Present designs for feedback from the product and engineering teams
  • Create work tickets defining requirements around designs
  • Work with front and back-end engineers as they code the new designs and features to provide clarity where needed
  • Review completed work for functional and aesthetic accuracy before approving work to be released.
