Senior Product Designer

About us

interviewing.io is on a mission to fix hiring.

We’re already the go-to place for software engineers to prepare for interviews, and we’re on our way to becoming their go-to place for jobs as well. We have something like ⅓ of the Bay Area’s engineers in our ecosystem, an engineer signs up for interviewing.io every 8 minutes, and we’ve helped thousands of people land their dream jobs. 40% of those people have been from non-traditional backgrounds and have historically been passed over because of how they looked on paper -- many were rejected by literally the same company when they previously applied with a resume.

We're rethinking hiring from the ground up, automating away the cruft, and removing friction for the part that matters: smart people talking to each other about the actual work. We want to take hiring from the Kafkaesque shitstorm it is today and make it into a delightful process for rational humans.

Come join us, and help make that world a reality.

What you’ll do here

interviewing.io is in an interesting spot. On one hand, we’re a market leader and have built a great, sustainable business that’s beloved by the engineering community. On the other hand, we’re a small team (10 people) without a full-time designer. This is a great opportunity to have the kind of creative control you’d normally have at a much earlier, less established company while getting to work on a product that already has a large and engaged user base and millions of dollars in revenue.

Today, we’re well-funded, have grown very quickly since 2020, and are positioned to grow even faster, but before we do that, we’d like to take a step back and lay a good foundation. This is where you come in. Come define what Design means at interviewing.io. Specifically, you’ll...

  • Create a design system for interviewing.io from the ground up, own it, and iterate on it
  • Build out a reusable component library
  • Own and lead the end-to-end design process of new features and iterations
  • Develop the vision for the end-to-end customer journey which spans the top of funnel, into onboarding → practice → getting hired → returning when the time comes for their next job search
  • Help define and execute experiments to get people more engaged with our platform

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated ability to bring clarity and structure to complex systems or user experience challenges
  • Experience working across the entire customer journey (bonus if you have experience working on multi-sided platforms)
  • Track record of using quantitative and qualitative methods to develop a deep understanding of target audiences and user behavior from first experience → conversion → retention
  • Experience developing and supporting the adoption of design systems and style guides across product and engineering teams
  • You can prototype ideas quickly and iterate using tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, Framer, etc. (bonus points if you can prototype in code)
