Sr. UX Design Researcher, Remote US

This role reports to our Cambridge, MA office and can be remote with some travel when needed. Local Candidates are preferred.

Who we are looking for: 

We are looking for an exceptional Senior UX Design Researcher to support the full lifecycle of our products by planning and conducting user experience research and sharing compelling insights with product managers, designers, executives, and other internal partners.  

As a Senior UX Design Researcher, you will be asked to conduct concept and prototype validation research, iterative design and usability testing, and exploratory ethnographic research with a wide range of healthcare and life science professionals. You will deliver clearly communicated and actionable research presentations that will inform and inspire all stakeholders. We are looking for a passionate design researcher who thrives in a fast-paced growth environment, enjoys collaborating cross-functionally, and is obsessed with understanding how customers and users think and feel. 

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? 

  • Manage research projects from beginning to end: Intake, plan, conduct and synthesize user research; 
  • Manage a backlog and roadmap of our research initiatives; 
  • Analyze the scope of research requests and develop an appropriate research plan based on the available resources; 
  • Plan and conduct generative research (e.g. ethnography, contextual inquiry, qualitative surveys, literature reviews), either in the field or remotely. 
  • Plan and conduct evaluative user research (e.g. usability, tree tests, card sorts, ...); 
  • Plan and conduct product validation research; 
  • Design and deliver research reports and readouts for a wide variety of internal partners; 
  • Develop behavioral archetypes and journey maps; 
  • Translate user research findings into strategic and tactical recommendations; 
  • Maintain and grow a knowledge and participants repository (e.g. Dovetail); 
  • Lead the efforts to cultivate and grow a Product Advisory Council 
  • Evangelize and educate about user experience research throughout the organization; 
  • Create and foster collaborative partnerships across the organization; 
  • Collaboratively develop processes, structures, and tools that support a wide range of research needs and that inspire the team to do their best work. 

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

  • 5+ years of experience in UX Design Research or comparable advanced degree plus 3+ years of experience 
  • Passion for creating consumer-centered product designs and cross-functional team collaboration; 
  • Experience conducting design research for data intensive digital applications or complex non-linear processes 
  • Experience managing a backlog and/or roadmap of research initiatives and developing systems for tracking research needs from cross-disciplinary groups; 
  • Drive to constantly learn new and developing research and analysis methods; 
  • Expert in qualitative and quantitative User Experience Research methods 
  • Ability to develop and present research results to review with cross-functional organization for review and feedback; 
  • Experience with online remote research activities; 
  • Education or work experience in Cognitive Science, Statistics, Human- Psychology, Computer Science, Computer Interaction, or related field.  

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have? 

  • Knowledge of the biopharma industry 
  • Experience with Agile methods 
  • Familiarity with human-centered design/design thinking, or design sprints
